SRVA is Accepting AVCA Diversity Scholarship Applications

NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR THE
2024 SRVA / AVCA DIVERSITY AWARDS PROGRAM.

Club Directors/Coaches/Members please submit your nominations for the 2024 SRVA / AVCA Diversity Awards Program. We currently have two AVCA Convention passes available to award. The timeline and criteria for nomination is detailed below.

YOU MUST BE A CURRENT SRVA MEMBER TO APPLY.

Program Description:

·       The SRVA has a convention registration that will be presented to a minority coach to attend the AVCA Convention in Louisville, KY December 18th - 22nd, They will be recognized at the Convention as the scholarship winner.

·       Region selects a Diversity Scholarship Award winner by October

·       Program includes AVCA Convention Registration, Shared Hotel accommodations, a $500 travel stipend, and all convention programming.

·       The 2024 AVCA Diversity Awards Program will also be hosted by the AVCA Diversity Development Team in conjunction with the AVCA Convention December 18th-22nd.

 

Timeline:

·       Nomination period: 8/01/24 – 9/25/24

·       Submission review by the SRVA Board committee: 09/26/24 – 10/5/24

·       Decision and announcement: by 10/06/24

Nomination criteria for female and male, Black, or ethnic minority Club (indoor and beach) volleyball coaches.

·       Preference will be given to first-time AVCA Convention attendees.

·       Establishes a positive example as a volleyball coach and promotes positive values among the players.

·       Develops a strong rapport and earns the respect of players on and off the court.

·       Creates an organized, secure, enjoyable, and rewarding playing and training environment for club volleyball participants.

·       Has a solid understanding of volleyball rules, systems of play, and coaching philosophy.

·       Creates a respectful relationship with referees, opposing teams and coaches, parents, supporters, and club officials.

·       Is involved with developmental opportunities and promotes the sport of volleyball in the community

·       Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Inspires players, encourages greater participation, promotes fair play, and makes volleyball more welcoming and inclusive.

·       They must be a current 2024-2025 SRVA member, in good standing.

·       It is preferred that they have been a member for at least the past two years.

Nomination process:                             

SRVA Club directors/Coaches/Members will submit the nomination using the online form, please make sure you have their/your resume and any optional supporting documents - recommendation letter(s), portfolio, bio, transcript(s), etc. RESUME SUBMISSION IS  STRONGLY REQUESTED (.pdf, .doc, or .docx)
